The metaverse just became an even hotter topic with Facebook’s rebranding as Meta in October. But you might still be wondering what the metaverse will do for you...
There will be many ways to experience the metaverse. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are often used for entertainment but are now also finding professional uses.
VR technology, for example, is used in the medical profession to help children feel less afraid of syringes. The virtual world can shift their focus to a cartoon so they don’t notice the needle.
VR is also being used to aid physical therapy in patients with mobility issues such as cerebral hemorrhage, muscular weakness, Parkinson's, or muscle injuries. Patients can do physical therapy while playing games through VR technology. Their movements can also be tracked through a hand controller to analyze data and development. Physical therapy procedures can also be adjusted at any moment.
In the fast-changing world, VR is also relevant for fields such as teaching, media, real estate, business, design and development, and fashion.
