Working from home and health risk from building material: how does it matter?

During this time we might quarantine and work from home. Some of us might stay at home 24/7 because we don’t want to risk our lives for COVID-19. But did you know that in your house there could also be materials that affect your health?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), interior materials and coatings can emit hazardous chemicals. If we inhale them, they can affect our respiratory system, nervous system, reproductive system, and hormones and body growth. Some paints contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) used as color solvents. These can affect our respiratory system. Some plywood contains formaldehyde that can raise the risk of cancer in the respiratory system and leukemia. Natural stone in tables, counters, and in concrete in walls can emit radon, a radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer.
If you are looking for new material or decoration for your home, choose safe options by checking for labels like Low VOCs, Zero VOCs, or No Formaldehyde. Air ventilation can also reduce indoor pollution. You can find more information at this post https://www.facebook.com/riscwellbeing/videos/693577481409676/
