You’re not alone if you’re not excited about eating fruit and vegetables during the Vegetarian Festival. Not everyone loves how they taste. But we can learn to love them – especially when we think about our future health.
The World Health Organization recommends eating at least 400 grams of fruit and vegetables each day to reduce the risk of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like heart disease, cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and stroke.
RISC cares about nutrition. Healthy food, in fact, is one of 7 concepts in the WELL Building Standard to ensure people can access healthy food at all times to protect themselves from disease in the long term.
If you want to change your eating habits, start by changing what you keep in the fridge. Replace some food with vegetables and fruits during the Vegetarian Festival. You’ll get used to it. Gradually add fruits and vegetables to each meal, starting with 1-2 types then increasing the quantity. We can gain the habit of always eating more fruit and vegetables. No need to wait for the Vegetarian Festival!
