How Dating Will Change in the Metaverse

This February, the Month of Love, there’s wonderful news for singles looking for love!! We’ll find love in new, digital ways...
Singles likely already know dating apps like Tinder, Bee-Talk, and Coffee Meets Bagel. Each has its own selling point, but the goal’s always the same: to find a compatible companion. Now that Facebook’s become Meta to focus on the metaverse, these apps are preparing to enter the new realm.
Tinder announced its aim to enter the metaverse through its own app in November 2021. Tinder Coins are a new digital currency you can use for services within the app or give to other users. The next step will be to create Single Town, a virtual digital world where your avatar can socialize in virtual restaurants and bars, communicating in real-time audio.
These features might not arrive anytime soon. But Tinder's sales and users have risen each year since its founding. They soared during the COVID-19 outbreak, when people were stuck at home or had to wear a mask all day. These new technologies will affect how we meet and get to know each other, bringing us closer to real life until we’re completely comfortable.
What’s your view? Are you ready to meet someone in the metaverse?
