Office syndrome can affect you at home as well as at your workplace.
Amid the pandemic, more of us are working from home in an unsuitable setting. Sitting for a long time without changing our posture or sitting in bad position can cause muscle pain and result in office syndrome.
If you have mild office syndrome, you can cure it by…
- Choosing a chair that suits your body. You should be able to sit fully and have a backrest to lean back on slightly. Adjust the height so your hips and calves are perpendicular and your feet rest on the floor.
- Having a desk that puts your keyboard level with your wrists and elbows.
- Placing your monitor at eye level so your neck is straight while you work, with your screen about at an arm's length from your eyes.
- Using headphones while talking on the phone for a long time to reduce the strain from holding a phone.
- Remembering to take breaks. Rest your eyes from the computer screen and get up to change your posture during the day.
- Exercising regularly to reduce muscle pain and boost your health.
If you’ve got severe office syndrome, though, consult a medical professional. Don’t wait until you have chronic symptoms.
