Biodiversity Standard
RISC’s "Biodiversity Standard" for real estate development has 4 elements:
- Pre-project biodiversity survey: This research involves studying the area’s plants and animals to plan their protection before development and create a database for designing the project's green spaces.
- Tree and animal relocation: Important trees must be safely relocated and then replanted in the project area after construction. Animals are also relocated to safe areas.
- Green space design: A nature-centric design approach ensures biodiverse green spaces.
- Post-construction biodiversity survey: This research examines positive and negative impacts to improve future developments.
RISC is committed to passing this standard to other developers to guide the creation of biodiverse green spaces.
Collaborating and sharing knowledge and experiences between sectors will promote the creation of urban green spaces with a wide impact.
