2 October 2020, Bangkok – MQDC’s Research & Innovation for Sustainability Center (RISC) has been awarded WELL Certification at “Gold” level for New and Existing Interiors by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) as the first organization in Southeast Asia.

IWBI’s WELL Building Standard (WELL) is the premier building standard to focus on enhancing people’s health and wellness through the buildings where we live, work, and play.

RISC earned its “Gold” rating through assessment for 7 concepts of building performance: Air, Water, Light, Nourishment, Fitness, Comfort, and Mind. The center is the first organization in Thailand to achieve WELL certification.

RISC’s office at Magnolias Ratachadamri Boulevard in central Bangkok showcases its work researching healthy, sustainable development. An Intelligent System controls energy consumption, monitors indoor air quality (IAQ), and ensures well-being in all areas.

The WELL Building Standard was created through 7 years of research with physicians, scientists, and industry professionals. To be certified, RISC underwent rigorous testing and a final evaluation by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), the third-party certification body for WELL.

RISC is Asia’s first research base for sustainable building with a focus on well-being. The center provides public information resources and operates an international network of researchers.

RISC makes its resources available to spur change within the property sector. RISC curates Thailand’s first ‘eco-material library’, for example, with publicly accessible samples and details of over 400 materials.
